Yuki Hirasaka’s Guide to Exploring Okunezato ①
Young genius Yuki, who is student council president despite being in his first year at middle school and Okunezato’s pride and joy, shares Okunezato’s charms!
Hey! Thanks for coming, everyone!
The name’s Yasuhisa Kukuri. I’m a handsome policeman, and there isn’t a soul in town that doesn’t know who I am.
Feel free to just call me Yasu. Of course, it’s a privilege granted to cute girls, just like you!
Anyway, I’m pretty much Okunezato’s hero, and…
Whoa, w-what’s going on, you guys!? Stop it, get your hands off me!
L-Let me talk, just let me keep going, pleaseeee! *muffled noises*
Er, ahem. I apologize for the commotion just now.
Let’s start over. Hello, everyone. I am Yuki Hirasaka, and I’ve been entrusted with the important task of introducing Okunezato’s charms to you all.
I’m not great at speaking in front of a crowd, but I’ll do my best. I hope you’ll come to love this town enough to visit.
Oh, by the way, the idiot policeman Yasu was originally supposed to be in charge, but it seems there was quite some pushback.
And yet he still made it here anyway… As you can see, that’s why he’s tied up here.
All right, then without further ado, let’s set off!
Main Street
This is the town’s main street, which runs from east to west, perfectly splitting Okunezato horizontally in half. There are a lot of stores lined along the street, so it’s always busy.
The great thing about this street is how you can experience the town’s history and development firsthand, from old stores that are over a hundred years old, to modern cafes.
Ah yes, that’s right. If you’re lucky, you can see someone wearing the Okune Panda… Or rather, the Okune Panda himself.
As for an interesting tidbit, a main street typically refers to a primary shopping street that serves as a hub for retailing and socializing.
This street originally had a different name, but when someone began referring to it as a “main street”, it spread from there, and it seems no one remembers its actual name.
Fuurinkan Hotel
This is the town’s sole hotel, where Yuzuki Murakumo serves as the owner.
Despite its impressive appearance, it only has seven rooms. The town doesn’t exactly get many tourists, so…
However, it is still a full-fledged inn, with its spacious lobby and open-air baths with free-flowing hot springs.
The first floor features the Fuurin Cafe, which serves as both a traditional Japanese-style cafe and a restaurant.
Isora is the chef. He may be in high school, but there’s no denying his skills.
The cafe’s signature dish is the special omurice. Definitely give it a try one day!
Anyway, it’s not exactly perfect, with the owner not being the most motivated, and one of the female staff members being rough around the edges,
but if you ever visit Okunezato, please do stay here.
I myself help out at the front desk, so feel free to come say hi!
General Store
This is a store on the main street that’s, err… It’s a little hard to describe it in a few words, but it’s more or less a souvenir shop.
It sells keychains and town specialties and the like… Oh, that’s right, and you can also buy Okune Panda merchandise here, which is really popular among the townspeople.
What’s really unique about this store is that it’s also fully equipped with a small market and a restaurant.
Their Shimanto eel dish is simply exquisite, but they only serve 30 portions a day, so if you want it, you better get here early!
The shopkeeper is a really kind and friendly person.
She claims she can speak some English, but… Well, regardless, I encourage you to strike up a conversation with her.
Okune Middle School
This is the middle school where I serve as the student council president.
The summer festival is coming up, and on that same night, fireworks will be set off from these school grounds.
Watching the fireworks as they spread as far as they eye can see is a sight you can’t miss!
Also, on August 8th, A-TO will be holding a secret concert right in this gymnasium!
You’ve heard of A-TO, right?
Yes, he’s the lead singer of AUK ZERO, the national idol group.
It’s unfortunate about their recently-announced disbandment…
I’m actually the chairman of the concert, so if you’re interested, I’d be happy to take you backstage!
Oh, but please do keep it a secret…
And on top of all that… Oh? Is that all for today? I see, that’s too bad.
Okunezato is full of eccentric mystery spots, but I’ll save that for next time.
Hey, Yasu, I’m all finished. Massage my shoulders!
