5 out of 5 stars. Truly, Experience Inc. has the finest horror artists in the entire games industry. If Death Mark 2 is to be the end of this brilliant little horror trilogy, at least it goes out with a bang.
Regardless of whether you’re new to the series or not, Spirit Hunter: Death Mark II is essential if you enjoy horror adventure games. It has a few small things holding it back from being perfect, but I love the time I put into it on both Switch and Steam Deck.
Overall, Spirit Hunter: Death Mark II is a fascinating, gripping horror story, and a worthy addition to an already brilliant series. A masterclass in horror storytelling and a brilliant example of what makes horror visual novels so great, I couldn’t have asked for more.
Spirit Hunter: Death Mark II from Aksys Games and EXPERIENCE is an outstanding horror experience that you have to check out on Nintendo Switch.
The artwork and music are great at building an eerie atmosphere. The story is engaging.
Playing the game at night was difficult as my “scared” emotion would be triggered in the dark. If this is something you feel that you can handle, then pick Spirit Hunter: Death Mark II. It’s a great game on many levels.
Excellent characters, creepy visuals and sound design, a gripping story, and a hard-to-solve mystery with branching paths and multiple endings.
Return to H City!
The latest installment to the Spirit Hunter Series – Death Mark II – finds Kazuo Yashiki back in H City to investigate supernatural occurrences at Konoehara Academy. Posing as a teacher, you will search the school and surrounding area for any clues to the mysterious disappearances of the students.
As in previous games in the series, the developers have drawn on Japanese myths and folklore to create an immersive and nuanced tale of terror. Some old faces return to aid Yashiki in his quest, and a 2D side-scrolling mode offers a new way to explore locations.
